An exploration of Vincent van Gogh’s life, artistic development, and emotional world. This part connects key moments of his life with the evolution of his style, offering a deeper understanding of art as a form of personal expression.
A practical approach to applying Van Gogh-inspired ideas in educational settings. Through real examples and activities, participants learn how to support children’s creativity, emotional expression, and artistic development.
Throughout the course, you’ll see how these ideas work with children — not as theory, but as lived practice in kindergarten and early primary settings.
We explore activities such as painting with thick tempera without water to feel the strength of each brush stroke, creating circular and rhythmic movements inspired by Van Gogh’s lines, and discovering contrast through complementary colours. Children experiment with different materials — pastel, charcoal, ink, collage, even painting on foil — to explore texture, movement, and expression in their own way.
You’ll also see how simple drawing exercises with quick, short strokes help develop a sense of rhythm and line, and how observing artworks or even taking a virtual museum visit can naturally lead into children’s own creative responses.
Each example is grounded in real work with children and can be easily adapted for your group or classroom.
